We build and test for access

The standard we aim for is WCAG 2.2 at the AA level, the guidelines issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), so that people who rely on a screen reader, a keyboard or a magnifier can use this site as well.

We have:

• made layouts that work on phones and when zoomed;
• checked colors for enough contrast;
• written link and button text that makes sense out of context;
• made every control reachable from the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator;
• added alt text to photographs;
• used real text rather than pictures of text;
• labeled every form field and made error messages clear;
• kept headings in a logical order.

There are two kinds of testing: software scans every page for accessibility problems, and every page is then checked at a desktop size and at a phone size. Both happen before each update goes online.

We want to fix what fails you

Image descriptions are not always complete: some give the gist rather than every detail. Anything else that does not work for you counts as a mistake, and we want to fix it.
